Do you want to learn more about wonderful encaustic painting?! I have a large encaustic studio 20 minutes North of Christchurch where I teach fun classes. No previous experience is required for any of the classes. All classes require a minimum of two people, so book with a friend. Maximum 4 people per class unless by other arrangement (Larger group bookings can be arranged and will be less expensive) Of course, if you want one- on- one tuition, you can pay twice the price and receive twice the attention! 'Encaustic Have-A- Go!'- 2 hours $60 per person You can come for a 'try- out' with some friends- $60 per person for 2 hours-have fun, go home with a 20cm x 20cm painting ..Everything supplied! No artistic experience required!! Minimum of 2 people ( Can run in an evening, week day or weekend) 'Encaustic Starter!'- 4 hours $120 per person Come and learn a little more in depth - fusing, and some techniques to get you started! Lots of fun. No experience required. Morning tea and all equipment supplied. You will go home with a 20cm x 20 cm painting and a sample board, and good idea of how to paint wonderful encaustic paintings. Book with a friend as a minimum of 2 people are required to run this course. ( Can run on a weekday or weekend with advance booking) 'Encaustic Artist in New Zealand'- 7 hours $230 per person/$400 per weekend Learn how to set up as an encaustic artist in New Zealand. This can be a very expensive medium to work in if you buy all your material commercially made up from the USA. We learn how to safely and effectively start from scratch to make and colour medium, and what you really need and where to buy it in new Zealand and Australia to get you going at home. We will create a larger work for you to take home, plus many sample boards of different techniques. On day One you will learn fusing in different ways, learn to use a butane torch, dry brushing, adding colour , adding texture, inserting objects, inks, dyes, powders plus MUCH more!! On day two you will learn advanced encaustic techniques such as photo encaustics, shellac and glue burns, working with metallics and rust plus MUCH more!! (You can do one or two days, but as a safety requirement, you must complete Day One before doing day Two) Book with a friend as a minimum of two people required to run this workshop. B & B style accomodation is available , with free airport pick up and drop off.
