About

Picture
I am a contemporary artist working in acrylic, oil and wax. I  live on a small piece of paradise, just north of Christchurch, New Zealand. I am a musician, artist, wife, and mother of three beautiful daughters.

Here on our wee farm, Piwakawaka Gardens, named after our native fantails that love to come and visit while I paint, I can spin off into my own creative space. I have the room to write, sing, play and teach music, fling paint and wax around and be just as loud or as quiet as I need!

I was initially self taught in my acrylic art journey, but in 2014 I travelled to North Carolina, USA, to work with the amazing and charismatic Jeanne Bessette. I also have done  a course with Robert Joyner, a very successful American abstract artist.
In 2017 I was fortunate to travel to New York to work with the acclaimed Brooklyn artist, Alyssa Monks  and study portraiture, my latest passion.
I was taught the encaustic method of painting initially by Jo Campbell, a wonderful artist from Golden Bay, NZ, and in 2015 I travelled to Sante Fe, New Mexico and work with Ellen Koment, who is one of the leading  encaustic artists in the USA.
In 2017 I worked with Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch, from USA and Nancy Crawford , Canada, in some life changing workshops.
